FULHAM FOOTBALL CLUB STEWARDING
This was a training day for about 50 new stewards who would work at Craven Cottage during the 2010/11 season. We all trooped along to the Hammersmith Gate at 10am decked out in our uniform of white shirt, black trousers and shoes. All except one, that is. A senior chap who had worked at Chelsea as a steward the previous season, who chose to wear a green shirt and grey slacks for some reason. Perhaps it was an attempt to stand out from the crowd!
The first thing we had to do was take a tour of Craven Cottage. Led by the Steward Manager, we walked around the ground from McBrides (named after former Fulham and United States star Brian McBride) to the Putney Stand, where away fans and neutral supporters are accommodated, through the Stevenage Road stand (commonly known as the Johnny Haynes Stand), behind the Hammersmith Stand, the home supporters' end, and ended our tour with a stroll by the river behind the Riverside Stand.
